In order to state the statement as true or false, first we will look for the elements involved in the process of purification of water. Then we will look if there are any non-metals involved in the process of purification of water. If we find any the statement will be true either false. Complete answer: There many microorganisms are there in the water of lakes, rivers and groundwater. Not all the organisms are harmful for the human body but most of the organisms can harm and can bring various diseases. These organisms are called pathogens. So we need to clear or purify water before taking it as drinking water. By Chlorination process we can remove germs from the water. Chlorine is a non-metal which is used to disinfect water. Chlorine can be applied for the deactivation of most microorganisms like bacteria. Hence, the given statement is true as chlorine being non-metal used in water purification. So, option A is the correct option. Note- Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water. The goal is to produce water fit for specific purposes. Various steps of water purification are: Coagulation and Flocculation, Sedimentation, Filtration and Disinfection.
