Apoorva maam my question is.....
Suppose given a decomposition or combination reaction, how do we predict the products so formed in that particular reaction?
For example when we decompose Pb(NO3)2 we get PbO + NO2 + O2. How do we come to a conclusion that these are the products formed when we decompose Pb(NO3)2?
Hope my question is clear now.

Actually there is no welldefined algorith to predict them.We usually look for the valencies and make sure that the equation is perfectly balanced on both sides of the equation{RHS and LHS}. We SOMETIMES ALSO DEPEND ON OUR MEMORY to equate them{this is not a standard procedure}.Only thing someone could tell you are some tips.
1>Look out that the equation is perfectly balanced.
2>Be carefull with the valencies of the compounds so formed.
3>And look if thye equation even makes sense at all!!!!!!!!!
WELL PLEASE CAREFULLY RECHECK YOUR EXAMPLE , I BELIVE YOU HAVE LEFT OUT ONE OXYGEN MOLECULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
