The cell wall is the outermost covering of the plant cell. It surrounds the plasma membrane. The cell wall is permeable in nature. It is made up of dead components. The cell membrane is selectively permeable, living material. It is made of a phospholipid bilayer, proteins, cholesterol and carbohydrates.
