let first person get f Rs and second one get s Rs such that f+s= 5000
now, compound interest paid by first person= f(1+r)^3 – f
and simple interest paid by second person= sr*3
by given condition f(1+r)^3 – f= 393 + 3sr
so obviously this ques cannot be solved until value of r is provided. maybe you can repost the ques with a pic from the book you have taken it from. i will then b happy to assist you further.
