In the adjoining figure , ABC is an isosceles triangle with AB = AC 13 cm and BC = 10 cm. If EFGH is a square inscribed in triangle ABC. Find the area of the shaded region. Dear Sir Answer is 3600/121 it is a question from M L Aggarwal Book Class X mathematics page: 192 Q 4

Hii subodh, see let`s draw a median from A to BC which touches GH atP and BC at Q.ok.then see AQC is 90°.and BQ=CQ.from properties of isosceles triangle.so AC=13 n CQ=5 given. So AQ=12. Let AP=x.so PQ=12-x.let QF=y and then FC =5-y.then see yriangle APG and GFC are simillar so AP/GF=PG/FC,. x/12-x=y/5-y n also as EFGH is a square so EF=GF, 12-x=2y.solve these2 eqs u can get y=60/22 so side of a square is (60/22)*2=60/11 so area ll b3600/121.try to understand otherwise cntct me at 7538953634
