To find the distance between two points (-3, 7) and (4, 2) in the coordinate plane, we use the distance formula. The distance formula is:

d = √[(x₂ - x₁)² + (y₂ - y₁)²]

Where: (x₁, y₁) are the coordinates of the first point (-3, 7) (x₂, y₂) are the coordinates of the second point (4, 2)

Step 1: Subtract the x-coordinates and y-coordinates (x₂ - x₁) = 4 - (-3) = 4 + 3 = 7 (y₂ - y₁) = 2 - 7 = -5

Step 2: Square the differences (7)² = 49 (-5)² = 25

Step 3: Add the squares of the differences 49 + 25 = 74

Step 4: Take the square root of the sum d = √74

Thus, the distance between the two points in radical form is √74.
