The answer is option (b) 12 hrs
Accordin to the information given in the question, the spider climbs 5m and drops down 2 m every hour. So there is a net movement of 3m by the spider. This sequence continues till the end of 11th hour, where the spider must have scaled 33m (3*11). In the twelfth hour, it would directly climb 5m and would  reach its destination without dropping 2m as 33+5 gives 38.
