divide x^4 – 6x^3 + 16x^2 – 25x + 10 by x^2 – 2x + k using division algorithm for polynomials
you will get the remainder as (2k – 9)x + (10 – 8k + k^2). And according to the question the remainder is x + a which is also 1x + a
therefore, 2k – 9 = 1 and k = 5
And 10 – 8k + k^2 = a  and that is 10 – 8*5 + 5^2 = a  and therefore, a = -5
