While attending the test series , i encountered with this problem . How to do this .

If (x+1) and(x-2) are the factors of the expression (2x3 –px2 + x +q), then the values of p and q are given by ?

as (x+1) and(x-2) are the factors, so the given expression have -1 and 2 as its factors

so, puttin -1 and 2 we get,

2(-1) -p -1 +q =0------------(I)

2(8) -4p +2 +q =0------------(II)

solving these, 

we get p=-5 and q=-2
