What is it about?
Mechanical Engineering includes manufacture, design, installation and operation of- machines, engines, heating & cooling systems,robotics, and manufacturing processes.
In this field, you will be responsible for designing and developing machines right from bicycles to supersonic fighter jets-which can be extremely challenging and fulfilling, thus requiring analytical skills together with an ability to work in a team. One must love machines and be comfortable working with tools to be a successful mechanical engineer!
Mechanical engineers can work in the automotive, power generation, chemical, aerospace,computer, paper, communication,and almost all manufacturing industries. They also work in maintenance and service profiles in all industries. Plus, they can also choose teaching profession in universities and colleges.
Further Study options
After completing a B.Tech/BE, you can opt for M.Tech/MS in various specializations such as Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Mechanical Systems Design, Mechanical Handling and Automation, & Thermal Energy and Environmental Engineering.
