\"bbbb\"<\/a>First phase of IIT placements for students passing out in 2015 got over by December 31, 2014. Extremely high salary packages being offered to IITians and successful placement of more than 50% of the current batch across the IITs have been media highlights this year. Other news that caught our attention was that IIT Bombay alone received over 1,000 job offers for its students and some of the IITians had the courage and the confidence to decline crore plus packages offered to them in favour of entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the unique IIT placement trends in 2015 that all JEE aspirants should know about:s<\/p>\n

  1. Rocket-High Salary Packages: Till now, average salary package at IITs have been a few lakh rupees. Only one or two of them were offered high salaries. But this year, 2-3% of the entire passing out batch got extremely good pay package offers \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 most of which were more than a crore. The highest salary package worth Rs 2 crore was offered by Facebook to a girl student from IIT Bombay. Oracle too offered a salary package of about Rs 1.8 crore to an IIT-BHU<\/strong> student. However, these figures have not been verified officially and are reportedly offered for working in international locations.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. IT & E-Comm Companies among Top Recruiters: Top recruiters at IIT campuses this year included Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Facebook and Flipkart. VISA Inc, Goldman Sachs, Reliance, ICICI Lombard, General Motors, TVS and Tata Motors also recruited IITians<\/strong> in large number. However the change this year was that many new IT & e-commerce companies offered good packages to a number of IITians this year. These included Nutanix, BrowserStack, OyoRooms, GetMeAShop, Edgeverve, Clavileno Capital, Practo and Sigmoid Analytics.<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. More Placements in Less Time: Number of placement offers made to IITians<\/strong> have seen a sharp rise this year. IIT-B students received 1,220 job offers in the first 12 days of placement season and the figure rose for the second half of the placement season. At IIT-M<\/strong>, about 300 domestic and international companies participated in the 2015 placement process \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 more than last year. At IIT-BHU<\/strong>, 510 students were placed and 550 job offers were made. The average salary package offered at IIT-BHU<\/strong> was Rs 12 lakh per annum. IIT Roorkee<\/strong> too saw over 100 companies offering more than 500 job offers to its students.<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Core Engineering Sector Gets a Boost: Influenced by \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00cb\u0153Make in India\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2 campaign, automobile industries, infrastructure companies and chemical industries also visited IITs this year. At a few IITs, IITians<\/strong> seemed to be more eager to join the core engineering sector this year. At NITs<\/strong> too, students showed an inclination towards jobs in the manufacturing sector of India.<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Entrepreneurship Over Good Pay Packages: Surprisingly, this year, many IITians<\/strong> have either chose not to participate in the 2015 placement drive or refused lucrative pay packages to start their own businesses. They have chosen to start their own ventures instead. IITs<\/strong> too offer assistance and guidance to budding entrepreneurs and offer them a chance to join campus placements after two years, in case their venture fails to pick up.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
