{"id":4531,"date":"2014-07-03T19:37:09","date_gmt":"2014-07-03T14:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/?p=4531"},"modified":"2014-07-03T19:37:09","modified_gmt":"2014-07-03T14:07:09","slug":"nit-goa-join-avoid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/nit-goa-join-avoid\/","title":{"rendered":"NIT Goa: Why to Join It and Why to Avoid It?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/aerialview-copy.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4532 aligncenter\" title=\"NIT Goa - Ranking, Placements | askIITians\" alt=\"NIT Goa - Ranking, Placements | askIITians\" src=\"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/aerialview-copy.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The National Institute of Technology, Goa is one of the ten institutions granted NIT status in 2010.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Like the rest of the NITs, it has been granted the status of an Institution of National importance.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 The first batch of students was admitted in 2010-11, which means that the first batch of engineers will pass out in 2014-15.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>The NIT Goa campus is located at Farmagudi, Ponda, and is a temporary campus.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 At present, NIT Goa functions out of the Goa Engineering College (GEC) campus.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Space for a permanent campus, spanning 300 acres from Concullum to Balli, has been allocated, but is not yet functional; hence the NIT Goa address will continue to be the same as the GEC till further notice.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 There has been quite a bit of controversy regarding land allocation, because the Government of Goa was adamant about releasing land only if 50% reservation is provided to Goan students.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 The request was granted by the Government of India with effect from the academic batch 2012-13.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 This makes it tougher for other state students to get admission to NIT Goa, because competition becomes tougher.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>At the B.Tech. level, The Goa NIT has only three Engineering branches: Computer Science and Engineering with 123 seats, Electronics and Communication Engineering with 135 seats and Electrical and Electronics Engineering with 120 seats.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 As mentioned earlier, 50% of these seats are reserved for Goan students.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 This reservation quota does not include students from Diu, Daman, Lakshwadeep or the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>NIT Goa placements are fairly good, with companies such as Siemens, D-Link, L&amp;T, BHEL, NTPC, Johnson Controls, Bosch and Phillips visiting the campus.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 These companies have been visiting the campus for MTech and other courses offered at NIT Goa campus, as the first BTech batch will graduate in 2014-15.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Hence, it is also too early to credibly comment about NIT Goa recruitments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>The NIT Goa review will be incomplete without covering the campus.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 The NIT Goa campus is well-equipped, with classrooms, auditorium well-equipped labs, a 1GB leased line fibre-optic cable, and other state-of-the-art equipment.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 The NIT Goa hostel has three hostels for boys and one for girls.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Campus life is active, with a number of societies such as TESLA (The Electrical Engineer\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s association), INVICTUS (the sports meet), cultural events, jam sessions, and so on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">NIT Goa Fee structure is as follows:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/nit-g.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4533 aligncenter\" title=\"NIT Goa: Why to Join It and Why to Avoid It?\" alt=\"NIT Goa: Why to Join It and Why to Avoid It?\" src=\"https:\/\/www.askiitians.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/nit-g.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is too early to comment about NIT Goa ranking, because the first BTech batch is still to pass out.
