As per the decision by the Supreme Court, JEE Main will be held from September 1 to 6, 2020 and NEET on September 13, 2020 as per schedule.<\/strong> Earlier the exams were postponed twice this year due to COVID19 outbreak. However, students were demanding a further postponement but saying \u2018life should move on even in Covid-19 times,\u2019 the Supreme Court on Monday rejected the petition for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and Joint Entrance Examination deferment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Supreme Court further said that it has taken note of assurance by JEE and NEET authorities that the exams will be held taking all the precautionary measures. As per the records, over 9 lakh students registered themselves to appear for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main) exam while around 16 lakh students had applied to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Since the country is facing Covid-19 crisis, the authorities had to postpone these exams from their scheduled date. However, students and their parents were highly concerned about the delay in the exam dates because the academic future was highly uncertain.\u00a0 But, now as per the recent announcement, the Supreme Court has dismissed a petition to postpone the NEET and JEE and the exams will now be conducted as per the ne<\/span>w schedule. Besides, the court has also announced that JEE Advanced exam will be conducted on the scheduled date i.e September 27, 2020.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Union Cabinet Minister of Education, Dr. Ramesh Nishank has tweeted the announcement related to the exam schedule. Also, the exams will be conducted on the responsibility of the National Testing Agency. Earlier, the agency was facing a lot of criticism because of the unclear nature on the NEET and JEE exam dates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, there\u2019s no doubt that the NTA had to postpone the exams because the Covid19 cases were rising day by day. Thus, keeping in mind the potential risks to the health of the students, NTA had to postpone the exams for the scheduled date, but the agency was unable to arrive at a solution amicable to parents, students, and the overall education system.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As per the reports, parents of 4 students have voiced their concerns to the Supreme Court by signing the petition to declare the JEE and NEET exams in September. These petitioners also argued that the admission through these entrance examinations is a time-bound process and due to the delay in the exam schedule, there would be disruptions in the students\u2019 academic life and future career opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, the decision was diverted to the Supreme Court. Justice Arun Mishra, who was heading the bench heard the plea and has made the decision that there won\u2019t be any further delays and exams will be conducted as per the schedule.
