"Mathematics is the Most Skipped Subject by Students

in JEE-2013"

In the latest JEE-2012 examination, the examiners were baffled to find out that the maximum question left unanswered by the students were from Mathematics. The examiners dub it as the key reason behind falling of the percentage of the overall scoring in JEE this year.

"Considering the fact that quantitative skills are an extremely important component of the testing process, it is proposed to change this order to mathematics, followed by physics and then chemistry,"   the IIT-JEE (advanced) 2013 report states.

"We have noticed that most students start attempting the paper with chemistry or physics. We have suggested that mathematics be given more importance," JEE-2013 convener H C Gupta was quoted as saying.

According to the reports, only 23 students could score over 300. "The competition thickens as one travels down along the rank list," IIT-JEE chairman said.

Another revelation that confounded many was the fact that about only 69.9% first-timers attempted JEE this year as compared to 80% last year.

Convener Gupta (JEE-2013) blamed it for the choice of branches of the candidates.
