The first question which comes to mind while preparing for the exam—is there any difference in the difficulty levels of the two exams? And the answer is, obviously yes! Difficulty level of the questions of IIT-JEE (Advance) exam is more complex than the questions of IIT-JEE (Main) exam. The questions are based on deep knowledge of the concepts and their application to solve the problems. 1. JEE (advance) Preparation Tips: In order to how to prepare for JEE advanced, you must try to understand the concepts behind the questions and topics. Once you understand the concepts, things will become easy for you.
After understanding the concepts, the next thing you need to do is to solve the questions based on those concepts. Start with easy questions. You can start with the solved examples of the questions of any NCERT text book and then move to unsolved and more complex questions and finally try to solve the questions from previous year IIT-JEE (Advance) exam question papers.
After knowing about the difficultly level, another question which strikes in mind is—what are the important topics to be prepared?
In order to answer this question, we are providing you the list of topics and their respective weightage for IIT-JEE (Advance) Exam.

5. Order to select the questions to be answered in the exam:
First of all, select the questions of those topics on which you have good command and you know that you can solve them easily. Solving these questions in starting would give you confidence. After that, look for the questions that have interlinked topics. For example, Chemical Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry and Chemical Kinetics are interlinked topics as these all have application of Gibb’s free energy, entropy and equilibrium constants.
Similarly s-block elements, p-block elements, transition elements and classification of elements and periodicity in property are interlinked topic in inorganic chemistry section.
In organic section, Aldehyde ketone, alcohol phenol ether and carboxylic acids are interlined topics. Solving all the questions of these interlinked topics at once would be a good idea. Questions of organic chemistry are slightly complex and it would be a good choice to solve the question of organic chemistry at the end after finishing the question of inorganic and physical chemistry unless you have very good command on organic chemistry.
There are some topics from which numerical problems come almost every year. You should prepare these topics as perfectly as possible but time on these. These topics are, Chemical Kinetics, Solid State, Gaseous State, Chemical Equilibrium and Chemical Thermodynamics.
JEE Advanced is a highly competitive exam. Hence, it is essential to cover all the topics. Though all the topics are important in the sense that even a single question can help you in winning this race, yet one should focus more on the areas which carry good weightage in the exam rather than those that don’t really fetch even a single question.
With a bit of hard work, one can easily ace the mathematics section of JEE Advanced. Our team of ex-IITians has devised a list of topics of mathematics with their weightage in JEE Advanced. This list is instrumental in the sense that it can guide your preparation in the right direction.
Our dexterous faculty consisting of ex-IITians has also concocted a list in which the topics are arranged in increasing order of their level of difficulty and weightage in the exam. The topmost portion of the table given below lists the most important topics which are simple as well as scoring. Hence, the aspirants must not ignore these topics. Our expert faculty is quite confident about the list and assures that these topics if prepared well can easily help you win this race!
1.
Circles
2.
Theory of Equations
3.

15.
Trigonometric Ratios & Identities
Topics like Circles, Theory of Equations, Complex Numbers and Definite Integration are quite simple as well as scoring. Hence, these topics must be revised thoroughly.
In IIT-JEE advance Exam, the difficulty levels of questions are very complex. So you have to maintain the right balance when attempting any question with consideration to account weightage as well as the level of difficulty. Out of the two tables given below, one is indicating the weightage of topics in the physics section and other one suggesting the order of picking the right questions to score well.
Electrostatic
Heat and Thermodynamics

First try to attempt Electricity and Magnetism section. If you know the proper law and some concept regarding the direction of electric and magnetic field (Like Application of Gauss law, application of Biot-Savart law, Faraday 's law, right hand and left thumb rule for current, electric field and magnetic field direction), you can easily attack this section in a very quick period of time.
The data shows, weightage of only Electrostatic section is 9%. So over all weightage of Electricity and Magnetism section is 22 to 25%. After finishing this section, you should proceed towards Modern physics (Atomic Physics and Nuclear Physics) because the questions in this section are coming directly. So, you can solve the questions from this section using direct formula and also very time consuming.
The weightage of this section is 7%. Heat and Thermodynamics is another easiest topic to score. Questions are regularly coming from using Laws of Thermodynamics, Entropy and Kinetic theory of Gases.
Besides these, the questions from SHM and Optics have moderate level difficulty while some questions from Mechanics have high level difficulty. This way if you have spent too much time in the first half of the exam, then you can give your best to the difficult mechanics section at the end. You can score high too this way.
