JEE Advanced 2022: Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Dates, Preparation Tips, and More!

 

JEE Advanced is an annual national-level entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to various engineering programs offered at the IITs. The exam is open to candidates who have qualified JEE Main and meet the prescribed criteria for age, subject combination, attempts, etc.

Also known as the IIT JEE exam, JEE Advanced exam is conducted by IITs on a rotational basis. The IIT that is scheduled to conduct the exam in a particular year is referred to as the Organizing Institute or OI.

The JEE Advanced 2022 exam will be conducted by IIT Bombay. The JEE Advanced 2023 exam will be conducted by IIT Guwahati.

 

How many engineering seats are available for those who clear JEE Advanced 2022-2023 exams?

 

The JEE Advanced 2022 exam will allow you to get admitted to about 16,000 seats in the following courses:

  • Bachelor of Architecture, 
  • Bachelor of Science, 
  • Bachelor of Technology, 
  • Dual Degree Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, 
  • Dual Degree Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology, 
  • Integrated Master of Science, and
  • Integrated Master of Technology

at the institutes like:

  • IIT Bhubaneswar, 
  • IIT Bombay 
  • IIT Delhi, 
  • IIT Guwahati, 
  • IIT Kanpur, 
  • IIT Madras, 
  • IIT Roorkee, ane more

under the guidance of JAB (Joint Admission Board).

 

JEE Advanced 2022 Eligibility Criteria

 

The candidates in the Top 2,50,000 (across all categories) in Paper 1 of the JEE Main 2022 will be eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2022 exam, if:

They are born on or after October 1, 1997. Age relaxation of 5 years is given in the upper age limit for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

They can only attempt the JEE Advanced exam twice - in two consecutive years.

Appeared for Class 12 exam for the first time in 2021 or 2022 - with Physics, Chemistry, and Math subjects. This year, a special allowance has been made for students who appeared for Class 12 exams in 2020 or 2021 and registered for the JEE Advanced 2020 or JEE Advanced 2021 exams but couldn't appear due to the pandemic.

JEE Advanced 2022 Exam Pattern

 

The JEE Advanced 2022 exam will have two compulsory papers. Both the papers will have three sections - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Both of them have 54 objective-type questions that need to be solved in 3 hours. 

In each paper, there are 18 questions from Physics, 18 from Chemistry, and 18 from Mathematics.

JEE Advanced 2022 Selection Procedure

 

The authorities will announce the results of JEE Main 2022 in online mode. Candidates who fall into the Top 2,50,000 across the categories in the JEE Main 2022 exam will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2022 exam.

The candidates will be selected based on their performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates will be allotted ranks according to their All India Rank (AIR) in each category. The percentile score and marks secured by the last candidate in each category will also be announced by the exam authorities.

Important Dates for the JEE Advanced 2022 Exam

 

JEE Advanced 2022 will now be conducted on August 28, 2022. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon while Paper 2 will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

The registration for JEE Advanced 2022 will take place from August 7-11, 2022. Foreign candidates who have done 10+2 from abroad can apply directly for the JEE Advanced 2022 exam from August 2-11, 2022.

Students can download the admit cards for the JEE Advanced 2022 exam from August 23-28, 2022.
