Details regarding the various categories

  • Scheduled Tribes/ Scheduled Castes candidates

JEE candidates who belong to the categories of schedule tribes and schedule caste can get the benefit of reserved seats. Generally, 17% and 15% seats are allotted in all the courses for individuals belonging to these groups. SC and ST candidates are chosen on the basis of various criteria.

Tribe certificate or original caste certificate is required to be provided by the aspirants in order to avail this reservation facility. Certificate submitted in any other format than the one prescribed here will not be considered by the centre.

  • Backward Classes Category Candidates

Generally, in ISM Dhanbad and IITs, around 27 percent seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the OBC category. The seats left in this specific category can be filled by the general candidates. Candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer cannot apply for the reservation under OBC.

  • Procedures and documents for Non Creamy Layer category

The category certificate for OBC was issued from the 10th of June, 2013 by respective authority according to the latest format, which needs to be properly uploaded for the JEE Advanced 2015 Counselling.

PwDs candidates - Person with Physical Disabilities

3 percent seat is reserved in all Indian institutes for those individuals who are physically challenged. Benefits of these reserved seats would be given to those who are 40% handicap. Aspirants from this group are chosen on the basis of several criteria.

  • Procedure and documents

An original certificate issued need to be submitted by a competent authority or district medical board at the time of taking the admission.

The certificate should be designed according to the present guidelines of the Indian government.
