WHEN A PARALLEL RAYS ARE INCIDENT ON A CONVERGING LENSE THEN THEY CONVERGE TO A FOCAL POINT .IT IS ALSO CALLED POSITIVE LENSE.IT IS CALLED CONVERGING LENSE BECAUSE RAYS ARE CONVERGE FROM THIS LENSE.

parallel rays are incident on a lense the rays are converging to a focal point this type of lense is called converging lense it is also called positive lense.the rays are converging from this lense that’s why it is called converging lense

A Converging lens is curved on both sides.this means the light rays coming out of it come together at point-they converge.The point at which the light rays meet is called the focal point.
A converging lens is used in refracting telescope to focus the image. the rays are converging from this lense that’s why it is called converging lense.
