Is there a difference when we use the formula intensity is inversely proportional to (dist.)^2 And Net intensity= I1 + I2 + 2(I1*I2)^0.5 cos angle to calculate the net intensity at a point in ydse? please explain both these methods an the best for calculating intensity?

relation with distance is used when we have to compare intensity in cases when distances are given...but formula is used to get exact intensity in a situation when only one case is given..i.e. intensity of sources undegoing interference and phase angle is provided.
