Dear Raj, the scenario is not5 constant in term of placement and also not fixed in each IIT/BITS The average salary was the 5.2 Lacs last year in case of mech at IITR. the package was higher in IIT B and IIT Kgp. this things depends on the job reqiurements and also companyies. The minimum salary in mech was 20 K in hand last year at IITR. and was more worst for other branches. and maximum package was 12Lacs in india. But this year, the scenario will be better than 2009 and package will be higher except than IITR. the company may visit IITR in last moment because of some hind fastival at Uttrakhand. So conclude is this , that salary will be between 4 to 12 Lacs CTC and in hand salary will vary between 21000 to 60,000 in starting. Pramod Kumar IITR Alumni
