As far as placements are concerned TIET Patiala is definitely good option than NIT Jalandhar and also TIET is ranked above the NIT jalandhar.

surely tiet patiala outclasses and outweighs nit jalandhar placements and oppurtinities.
also it has one of best campus and hostel facilities provided by any institute in north india
......but as you must be aware of thapar institute is really expensive(~2.5 lakh per annum, two yrs ago) whereas nit jalandhr is relly cheap (~27thousand per annum, two yrs ago)
if you can afford thapar is the best institute to make out your future with in that 7,000-12000 aieee rank
