orthoboric acid does not directly donate a proton.
but when it is added to water orthoboric acid accepts OH- and hence releases proton.
thus it is called an acid
H3BO3 is also written as B[OH]3
B[OH]3+H2O------B[OH]4+H+
hope it is clear
