The reaction rate (rate of reaction) or speed of reaction for a reactant or product in a particular reaction is intuitively defined as how fast or slow a reaction takes place.
The rate of reaction at any instant is directly proportional to to the product of the concentrations of the reactents taking art in the reaction at that instant.
The rate of reaction depends on following factors:
  1. Concentration of the reactants.
  2. Nature of the reactants.
  3. Surface area of the reactants.
  4. Temperature.
  5. Catalyst.
  6. Light.
