Dear Rupesh
  1. permutit process is a process in where hard water containing such as ca++ is filtered through a natural  sand called the zeolite.
  2. calogen is a trade mark of complex salt ,sodimmetahexaphospate (NapO3)6.calogen ion gives a complex anion.
  3. ion exchangers are either cation exchangers that exchange positively ions or anion exchangers that exchange anions.

This process is extensively used in sustaining both temporary and permanent hardness of water and large scaleZeolite are naturally occurring minerals and are Complex substances containing Sodium and Aluminium silicates. The sodium ion in a giant molecule of zeolite are displaced by CCa 2 + Fe2 + Mg2 + ions of hard water as the lights are insoluble in water the CA 2 + Mg2 + Fe2 + ions in hard water are removed and the salt water is made soft . Permutit an artificial zeolite. It is obtained in the form of granules was using sodium carbonate Alumina and silica chemical it is Sodium aluminium orthosilicate the Water softening Plant by permutit process consists of a large cylindrical vessel made of iron ore bricks The vessel is packed with layers of gravel permutit fine and coarse sand from top to bottom in the order mentioned hot water is allowed to percolate from the top through the different layers while passing through the lid of permutit the calcium magnesium and ions of hard water are exchanged by the Na+ ions of permutit that is the sodium ions of the Permutit reacts with the soluble calcium magnesium and iron salts of hard water forming in soluble permutit salts of calcium magnesium and iron and the retained in the bed the soft and water passes through the different filter beds and comes out of the vessel to an outlet at the bottom

Permutit process is a process of removing permanent hardness of water by using natural or artificial zeolite (a.k.a sodium zeolite).
