Disordered hyperuniformity is a new state of matter that has been discovered in the eye of a chicken. This discovery came as researchers were studying cones, which are tiny light-sensitive cells that allow for the perception of color in the eyes of chickens.Disordered hyperuniformity is the state when a matter behaves both like a crystal as well as liquid states of matter exhibiting order over large distances and disorder over small distances. It is a crystal in a sense that the density of particles within the matter is same over large distances. However at smaller distances the particles behave like liquids by displaying same physical properties in all directions.
