Non-biodegradable detergents are those which can not be broken down by microbes into simple form while those which can be, are called biodegradable detergents.
All the detergents used in house hold are non biodegradable, however some detergents are modified to make them biodegradable

Detergents that have straight hydrocarbon chain and can easily decimposed by microbs are called bio-degradable detergents. Ex- sodium lauryl sulphateDetergents having branched hydrocarbon chain and that are not easily decomposed are called non-bio-degradable detergents. Ex- sodium-4-(1,3,3,7 tetra methyle octyl) benzene sulphonate.
