vapour pressure is the pressure exerted by the vapours on the surface of liquid
Aqueous tension is defined as the pressure exerted by saturated water vapour. As gases are generally collected over water they are moist. Pressure of dry gas can be therefore calculated by subtracting vapour pressure of water from the total pressure of the moist gas which contains water vapours also
