In hoops method, 3 layers are miscible with each other due to density difference, Upper layer consists pure aluminium, lower layer consists impure. Middle layer consist flourides of Al, ba, na&na3alf6. Upper layer acts as cathode, lower acts as anode and middle act as electrolyte. From electrolysis 99.9%pure Al is obtained.
