This is newer and more systematic method of specifying absolute configuration to optically active
compounds.
• This system is based on actual three dimentional (or) tetrahedral structure of the compound. It hascertain rules. Identify the substituents at asymmetric carbon and arrange them in order of priority i.e. fromhighest atomic number to lowest atomic number.
