Acid is an substance which give H+ ions in aq. solution. For ex- HCl,H2SO4 are the acids as they give hydrogen ions in aq. solution. Now the number of hydrogen ions furnished by an acid is called the basicity. Thus basicity is a term used for acid.
Now different acids have different acid acid strengths. The acid strength is measured by degree of dissociation of an acid.Acid which have greater degree of dissociation will behave as strong acid and which have lesser degree of dissociation will be an weak acid. Thus acid strength and basicity are the terms which are used in case of acids.
But acidity is a term which is used for base.It is the number of OH-- ions furnished by an substance in aq. solution.Such substance is called as base.
