Aniline is convered to phenyl isocyanide by its reaction with KOH and chloroform i.e. CHCl3
C6H5-NH2 + KOH + CHCI3----------> C6H5-NC

No, this method will give phenylcyanide not phenylisocyanide......U can use this method....C6H5NH2+HNO2+HCl at 273K-278K=C6H5N2Cl then add Cu2Cl2(Sandmeyer Reaction) or Cu+HCl u will get chlorobenzene and then add AgCN it releases isocyanide ions and u will get phenylisocyanide.......ty

C6h5NH2+ nano2+ Dillon. Hcl, 273-278k ( diazotisation) = c6h5n2cl +agcn/cucn heat = c6h5nc( phenylisocyanide)
