Determine the molecular formula of an oxide of sulphur containing 50% sulphur

Answers : (1)

Dear pallavi

percentage of sulpher =50%

percentage of oxygen = 100-50 =50%

number of molecule of sulpher = 50/32=1.5625

number of  molecules of oxygen = 50/16 =3.125

so simple ration of molecules are = S/O = 1/2

so emperical formula = SO2

Exactly half filled and completely filledsubshellsgive stability to the atoms.then which of the following is the correct order of stability? 1. p3 2. P3 3.d5>p3>d10>p6 4.d5p3
Your options are incomplete though. The stability order should be: d10 then p6 then d5 then p3. this is most suitable combination.
