Dear friend,

subshell ''s'' is nearer to nuclues since it have less energy than other subshell.when you go away from the nucleus the energy increases.

The increasing order s<p<d<f .Now we can say that ''s'' subshell is nearer to nucleus.

Dear Rohit Singh,

S subshell is nearer to the nucleus and to be more specific 1s subshell is nearer to the nucleus. Subshells closer to the nucleus have lower energy. Therefore we can find the subshells that are closer to the nucleus by finding the subshells which have lower energy . Aufbau''s principle gives a list of subshells which have energies from the lowest to the highest. From this the subshells nearer and farther from the nucleus can be identified.

Thus the pictorial representation given above,1s subshell has the least energy so it is closer to the nucleus while 6d orbitals are the farthest from it.

Hope this helped you immensely...!!

All the Very Best & Good Luck to you ...!!
