15th group elements are called pnicogens and they are also called the nitrogen family.they are called pnicogens because of they belongs to nitrogen family.

15 group elements are called picogens (suffocating) because their most of the compounds are poisnous gases

Group 15 is called pnicogens or nitrogen family because compounds of these elements are either explosive or very dangerous. For eg. NCl3 is an explosive, white phosphorus is used as rat poison etc.
