Alcohols react both as nucleophiles and electrophiles.OH bond cleavage takes place when alcohols react as
nucleophiles.And CO bond cleavage takes place when they react as electrophiles.So this is the basis of cleavage type in alcohols.IF UNDERSTOOD THEN PLZ APPROVE.
