Methanol is more acidic than water beacause it is the conjugate acid of a weak base(OMe-) while water is the conjugate acid of a strong base(OH-).
And according to Bronsted-Lowry concept A conjugate acid of a Weak base is a strong acid and vice versa.

Since carbon is more electro negative than hydrogen so it will withdraw some electron density from oxygen and making methoxide anion more stable than hydroxide anion.... hence methanol is more acidic than water.

Methanol is more acidic than water because conjugate base of methanol (methanoxide ion) is weaker base than hydroxide ion ,methyl slightely withdraw electron density from oxygen atom unlike hydrogen which donates electron to oxygen atom.
