we can consider moist Ag2O as AgOH, which reacts with RX following SN2 mechanism.
while dry Ag2O yields ethers, also following SN2 mechanism. Ag2O catalyses the removal of halide ion as AgX. The RO- then acts as a strong enough nucleophile to affect the SN2 mechanism

Hello students
Moist Ag2Oreleases OH- in low concentration as AgOH is a weak base. When ethyl bromide is treated withmoist Ag2Oit gives ethyl alcohol as major product. Due to low concentration of OH- the probability of elimination reaction minimizes.

Hope it helps
Thankyou and Regards
