in haber process nitrogen from atmosphere combine with hydrogen (derived from natural gas) to form ammonia in the presence of iron catalyst at 400 0C and at 200atm pressure.
the process is exothermic and reversible .
it is an extremely helpful process because it produces ammonia which is used in fertiliser(urea,ammonium nitrate).

A process by which ammonia gas is prepared.The haber process combines nitrogen from the air with hydrogen derived mainly from fire damp into ammonia. The reaction is reversible and the ammonia is exothermic. The catalyst is actually slightly more complicated than pure iron.
