SN1 reaction takes place in two steps. The first step is generation of carbocation and the second step is attack of nucleophile on the carbocation. As the nucleophile can attack from both the sides, both products are formed. So In S N 1 reaction on chiral substrates dextro and levo mainly gives racemic mixture.
