Phenol can be prepared from benzene ----
1).First benzene is treated with nitrating mixture results in the formation of nitrobenzene-
C6H6 + (conc. HNO3+ conc.H2SO4) ---------> C6H5NO2
2).Nitrobenzene is reduced with Sn,HCl in presence of NaOH to form aniline--
C6H5NO2 ----------> C6H5NH2
3).Treating aniline with NaNO2,HCl ,forming phenol.
C6H5NH2 -----------> C6H5OH
