as we go left to the right of the periodic table , nuclear charge increase and the electrons are added to the same shell . 
therefore ionisation energy increase with increase in electronegativity , lead to the dynamic exchange of electrons . 
metals and non metals have their own trend across the periods , metals easily give up electrons to attain stability . 
hence , their reactivity decrease across the period , while non metals need to gain electrons , to attain stability , so, their reactivity increase across the periods .
