Ethyl chloride reacts with AgNO3 and white precipitate of AgCl is found. But chlorobenzene doesn`t react.due to resonance C-Cl bond of chlorobenzene becomes partially double bond but there is no resonance in ethyl chloride.

In ethyl chloride there is no resonance of C-Cl bond but there is resonance of C-Cl band in chlorobenzene. So ethyl chloride react with AgNO3 to form white ppt. of AgCl whereas chlorobenzene does not

In case of chlorobenzene, the lone pair of chlorine participate in resonance for this the C-Cl bond becomes partially double bond.so white precipitate of AgCl is not found for C6H5Cl
