DEAR VIKASH,

Haloalkanes undergo elimination of hydrogen halide (HX) when boiled with alcoholic solution of potassium hydroxide, resulting in the formation of alkenes.

formation of alcohols by nucleophilic reactions of haloalkanes

On treatment with aqueous solution of KOH , haloalkanes give alcohols.
