Moment  of inertia is the product of the mass of the object concerned with the square of perpendicular distance
taken from the point of contact.
Hence, I =M*r^2

Hii

It is analogus to the inertia of rectiliniear motion in circular motion .

It is calculated by finding the product of mass of every particle and its distance squared when calculated from axis of rotation

Well..you can consider this as mass of a rotating body.in rotational mechanics it is analogus to mass in rectilinear motion.it is always associated with an axis.without this axis it has no meaning.
