let the governing force eqn be,
F=−kx

we know,
P.E. = \int \underset{f}{\rightarrow}.\underset{dx}{\rightarrow}

P.E.=\int_{0}^{x} -kx*dx*cos(180)

                      the angle between f and dx is 180 as they both are collinear but act in the oppsite directions
now on intergration,
P.E.= ½kx2

hence proved hope this seems to be useful
