It`s been like 23hrs and none has answered! Kindly rply! The gravitational field lines of sun are discontinuous? Field lines cross the earth surface and go beyond towards the planets ahead but there`s vacuum in between... I`m confused with where is this vacuum actually? If field lines are everywhere that would mean there is medium so sound of explosion in sun must travel to earth.

First of all concept of field line is a hypothetical concept to explain gravitational force, field line do not exist physically, we can't see or touch them, only their effects can be felt which helps in giving proper explanation of gravitational force.
And Vacuum means absence of any kind of medium (matter) whether solid, liquid or gas.
Existence of field does not imply presence of medium.

For example Earth experiences Sun's gravitational field but it does not mean that there is some kind of continuous medium between them.

but if there`s no gravity that would mean no vacuum? Why aren`t they related this is my actual doubt?what is the basis of explanation if according to you field lines do not exist physically but their effects can be felt? Eg. magnetic effect if it is being felt upto a distance of 100 m from a magnet that means it surely exists in between 0-100m. It means magnetic field lines are continuous and not discrete if it were ever possible for any kind of field!

Theory doesn't lead to discovery, discovery forces us to develop a proper theory and experimentally verify it.
Gravitaional force was a discovery and later on to explain this theory of field was developed.

Lets go by definition
Vacuum means absence of any kind of matter(solid, liquid or gas).
Gravitational field is the region around a mass in which any other mass will experience force due to it.

These two are simply two different things.
