According to Newton’s first law any body will continue its state of rest or uniform motion unless or until compelled by some external force. This means if a body is at rest it will tend to keep at rest bcz forces acting on it zero. Body is in equilibrium condition.  Equilibrium can be of both types either Static or Dynamic. In uniform straight line motion forces acting on body are zero and hence move with constant velocity. But this can only happen in absence of friction. So in absence of friction a body in a straight line motion moving with consant velocity will tend to move unless or until stopped by some external force.
