If its displacement is increasing uniformly in each of the three dimensions, the particle will be following a straight line.If the the constant factor by which displacement is increasing in one dimension is equal to zero, the line may be of a sort more familiar to you.Hopes it helps you

dear, I can understand your question.in simple language if the practical is moving in a straight line then you have choose an axis(x ,y or z) along that straight line.your confusion created from our daily practice bcoz. we always draw X-Y plane in the plane of paper.
