Block B moves to the right with a constant velocity v(not). The velocity of body A relative to B is: (A) v(not)/2 toward s right (B) V(not)/2 towards left (C) 3V(not)/2 towards left (D) 3V(not)/2 towards right.

Let xE= length of bottom rope length, XD= middle  rope length, Xc=top rope length, X is fixed at bottom rope starting point, XA= Distance upto block A (POSITIVE TO THE left) , XB= distance upto mass B (positive to the right).
so  LE=X

LD=XB+XA       (1)

LC=XB+XA   (2)

L=LE+LD+LC = 3XB+2X  (3)

L= CONSTANT ,

diff (3) → 0 =3VB+2VA→ VA = -3VB/2

VAB=VB-(-VA)  (note the comment above for VA is negative)

VAB = VB-(-(-3VB/2))
VAB =(1-3/2) VB = -0.5 VB
VAB =-0.5 V0

For velocity, right is taken as positive. Since answer is negative the block moves towards left.

Answer option (B)
