A man is riding with a flatcar travelling with constant speed 4. there is stationary ring above the line of the motion of the car. Heightr of the ring above man’s hand is 7.2m. He wishes to throw a ball through the ring in such a manner that the ball passes through the ring moving horizontally. He throws ball with speed 20 m/s w.r.t himself(car) 1. What must be the vertical component of initial velocity of the ball. 2. How many seconds after the releases the ball will it pass through the ring 3. When the ballleaves the man’s hand what is the direction of its velocity rel. tothe frame of reference. 4. At what horizontal dis. in front of ring must he release the ball.

Hello student,
I have a few queries regarding the question.
  1. What is 4. Is that 4 m/s with which the car is moving.
  2. Where is the ring initially along a horizontal direction when the vertical height is 7.2 m.
  3. What exactly do you mean that the ball passes horizontally. The ball should be covering a parabolic path.
If poss correct the question and add a figure to it.

Dear student,
You need to specify the initial coordinates of the car and the ring. Once that is done, then we can proceed further.
